This is Alaska, and the fish don't wait - we will meet bright and early at 6:00am.
We will meet at the bottom of Ramp 1, located directly behind the iconic Salty Dawg Saloon and Buttwahckers on the Homer Spit. Make sure you've got your valid Alaska fishing license squared away before you step on the boat.
No license = no fishing. Simple as that.
After stepping aboard The Wicked, Captain Josh will provide a quick but thorough safety briefing covering the essentials and what to expect for the day.
Alaska weather does its own thing - sun, wind, rain... sometimes all in one day. Dress in layers including waterproof outer shell and choose non-slip boots. The cabin is heated and comfortable, but the action happens outside.
Bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks (NO glass or large coolers). Stay fueled - it's a long, action-packed day.
Few recommended items:
Motion sickness prevention is highly recommended
Sunscreen
Camera
Any necessary medications (please inform Captain Josh of severe allergies or conditions)
House rules:
Non-smoking vessel
No illegal drugs (including marijuana due to federal regulations)
If you had a Wicked day on the water, gratuity is a great way to show it. From early morning prep to putting you on fish, a lot goes into making your trip Wicked. A standard tip is 15-25% of your charter fee, based on your experience.
Come prepared, stay flexible and get ready for a Wicked day on the water.
Make sure you've got your fishing license squared away before you arrive. We'll check it prior to departure.
A 1-day license is typically all you need unless you're fishing multiple days. If you're targeting King Salmon, a King Salmon stamp is also required.
Licenses and more information can be purchased online at Alaska Dept of Fish & Game or at most local sporting goods stores and tackle shops in Homer. For those under age 16, no license is needed, but you will need to bring a harvest card.
Back at the harbor, the crew at Buttwhackers will meet us right at the dock and they'll haul your catch right off the boat, hang it up for one last victory shot, and then get to work turning your catch into clean fillets - this is included in your charter.
Want to taste your catch the same day? Ask Buttwhackers to set aside a couple fillets for dinner or take them to a local restaurant and have it cooked up fresh - doesn't get more Alaskan than that.
Want to take it all the way home? Homer Fish Processing has you covered with vacuum sealing, freezing, boxing it up and shipping. Buttwhackers will pass your fish off to them, seamless and easy. Processing and shipping are available at an additional cost based on how you want it handled. Or if you've got your own plans, you can take your fillets with you and handle processing your way.
A day on the water is what we live for but it can be physically demanding. Your safety is our top priority, so please let Captain Josh know ahead of time about any medical conditions or concerns. If being away from immediate medical care isn't a good fit, this trip may not be for you.
We understand that plans can change, and we aim to be as fair and transparent as possible.
Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to your scheduled charter will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made within 30 days of the charter date are non-refundable.
In the event that we must cancel your trip due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund.
We don't cut corners and we don't settle for average fishing. If fuel prices at the dock climb above $5.00 per gallon at the time of your charter, a $20 per person, per day fuel surcharge may apply. This keeps us running hard, reaching the best fishing grounds and delivering the full Wicked Alaska experience. The surcharge, if applicable, will be handled prior to your charter.
