After getting his start in Sitka, he made his way to Homer in 2014 and spent two seasons as a deckhand learning the fishery from the ground up.
He earned his captain's license and spent the next four years running boats for multiple charter operations, building the experience and instincts that only come from time on the water. From 2015-2020, he also commercial fished throughout the winter months - adding a deeper understanding of Alaksa's fisheries.
From 2020-2025, Josh was co-owner of Big Butt Charters before stepping away to build something of his own - Wicked Alaska Charters.
Today, every trip is owner operated. When you call, you're talking directly to the captain. When you step on board, he's the one running your trip.
This isn't just a job - it's a way of life.
And at the end of the day, you'll likely see why. Back at the dock, you might be greeted by his two little girls - waiting to cheer on their dad and check out the day's catch at Buttwhackers. It's all part of what makes this more than just a charter.
Wicked Alaska Charters didn't just start as a business - it started as a way of life.
Fishing, exploring, and chasing adventure has always been at the center of what we do. What began as long days on the water turned into something bigger - sharing that experience with others.
After years of running boats and co-owning a successful charter operation, it was time to build something more personal - something that reflected how we believe fishing in Alaska should be done. That's how Wicked Alaska Charters was born.
For us, this isn't just about fishing - it's about family. From early mornings on the water to evenings at the dock, this business is woven into our everyday life. You'll often see it firsthand - whether it's the girls waiting at the docks or sharing the excitement of the day's catch at Buttwhackers. Because at the end of it all, this isn't just a trip. it's a piece of how we live. Our adventures don't stop when the boat is tied up. Through our YouTube channel, Fish.Camp.Hike.Alaska we share what life up here really looks like - fishing, crabbing, camping, hiking and raising a family in Alaska.

Wicked Alaska Charters is built on more than just fishing.
It’s years of hard-earned experience on these waters, a passion that started long before it became a business, and a commitment to doing things the right way—every time.
Most of all, it’s about sharing it with every person who steps on board.
